PCL&CA RATIFICATION BALLOTS ARE OUT!

Attention Members:

Local 63 has mailed out the PCL&CA Ratification Referendum Ballots to your address of record.

You will find these voting instructions enclosed with your Ballot. As noted in the instructions, ballots must be received in the Local 63 Business Office Lobby Ballot Box by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, August 23, 2023. Please download to read instructions here.

Additionally, please note the following instructions from the Coast Longshore Division Officers:

“Longshore and Clerk registrants may keep the numbered stub portion (in the upper left hand corner of the ballot) for their records once they have completed voting, but failure to remove the stub is not a disqualifying event.”

August 3rd Stop Work Membership Meeting

On Thursday, August 3rd, Local 63 held its Stop Work Membership Meeting at the Warner Grand Theater.

The Local swore in new Officers and Committee members elected on the June ballot and conducted regular business.

The Local also presented an overview of the PCL&CA tentative agreement with presentations by Local 63 negotiator Mike Podue, Local 63 President Joe Gasperov, Coast Tech Coordinator Dane Jones, Safety Negotiator Pete Ciaramitaro, and Pensioners President Greg Mitre. On stage were the Local 63 Officers and Caucus delegates.

Additionally, Local 63 was honored to have ILWU International President Emeritus Jim Spinosa in attendance. Jim also presented his views on the tentative agreement and his philosophy on Contract bargaining based on his many years of experience bargaining Coast Contracts and local agreements.

Special Bulletin – PCCCD Section 8.34

Attention Members:

Please be advised that PMA has notified the Union that they will resume enforcement of Section 8.34 of the PCCCD, which requires clerks to work at least one day a month, beginning June 1, 2023 (see attached PMA Bulletin).  If you have any questions, please contact an officer.
