Each year, ILWU Local 63 joins Locals 13 and 94, Pensioners, and the ILWU Credit Union to provide scholarships that support high-achieving high school students in the surrounding communities. The program awards up to 3 students from each participating school with $500 scholarships to help them with their books, tuition, etc. Each scholarship recipient wrote an essay on Harry Bridges, the founder of the ILWU, in which they recognized his integrity and the value of his struggle to help the working class.
